Melissa S. Ayre, esq.
Melissa first began working with children with disabilities as a volunteer at Variety Child Learning Center, a New York State Approved Non-Public School. There, Melissa volunteered in and out of the classroom by running after-school social groups. Melissa’s interest in helping children with disabilities grew while attending the University of Vermont. Melissa was an active member of Burlington Vermont’s chapter of Autism Speaks, aiding in organizing Burlington’s first annual Autism Walk. At the University of Vermont, Melissa studied Psychology, Special Education, and Political Science.
Melissa attended Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, where she completed a clinical program at Legal Services NYC- Bronx. During her time at Cardozo, Melissa was also a legal intern at Advocates for Children, an organization that provides free legal services to the families of children with disabilities. Continuing her efforts to assist students with disabilities, Melissa advocated for public school students facing suspension via the Suspension Representation Project. Upon graduating from Cardozo, Melissa continued to advocate for low income families of children with disabilities at Legal Services NYC- Bronx as a Bridge to Practice Fellow. Melissa then joined our team in January 2014.
Melissa received her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, and is admitted to practice law in New York and New Jersey. Prior to attending law school, Melissa received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Vermont.
Melissa has recently returned back to the states after living abroad in Sydney, Australia, where, along with her continued work with Kule-Korgood & Associates, she was also a clinician at a Lindamood-Bell Learning Center. Melissa currently lives in NYC with her family and rescue dog, Mr. Milo.
